SMEDAN VALIDATION OF NATIONAL POLICY ON MSME

Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) had on Friday 7th of February,2020 invited stakeholders and members of the public to the validation of its National Policy on MSMEs at the Kadpoly Hotels, Tafawa Balewa way, Kaduna.

At the exercise, Zonal Coordinator SMEDAN Alhaji Ahmad Madaki welcomed His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, who was represented by the Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology Mr. Idris S. Nyam, Director General of the agency Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda,and other dignitaries including the MD/CEO Bank of Agriculture Limited Kabir Mohammed Adamu and his team. Also present was Dr.Tolu Adetunji a consultant to SMEDAN.

While giving his remark, the Director General appreciated the presence of major Stakeholders and acknowledged the MD of Bank of Agriculture whose organization has helped in the area of financing MSME business activities in the country.

In his goodwill message the MD/CEO of Bank of Agriculture, acknowledged the role SMEDAN plays in supporting business proposals for numerous MSMEs of Agriculture background. He advised all MSMEs as a matter of necessity to utilize all the opportunities given to them especially with respect to repayment when facilities are given.

In a bid to make registration easy for MSME in the rural areas, the agency is planning to deploy electronic devices to capture all necessary data. To this, the MD/CEO Bank of Agriculture promised to collaborate with the agency in reaching out to the rural community through its platform.

Dr. Tolu Adetunji, a consultant to SMEDAN made a presentation on the reviewed National Policy for MSMEs, emphasizing on the role of MSMES in the economic development of any country. The present review he said, took into consideration the current plans of Government as contained in the Economic Recovery Growth Plan (ERCG).

At the end he said this briefing would take place in the six (6) geo political zones of the country after which the policy would take effect.
